Beaverton is approximately 8 miles west of downtown Portland. Typical drive time is 20-30 minutes via US-26 (Sunset Highway) depending on traffic. Beaverton is also served by MAX Blue Line light rail (7 stations in the city) and WES Commuter Rail, providing direct rail transit to downtown Portland without driving.

Beaverton students attend schools in Beaverton School District 48J, Oregon’s third-largest school district with approximately 37,500 students across 34 elementary schools, 9 middle schools, and 6 high schools (Aloha, Beaverton, Mountainside, Southridge, Sunset, and Westview). The district also operates several option schools including the International School of Beaverton and Arts and Communication Magnet Academy.

Providence St. Vincent Medical Center serves the Beaverton area. Located at 9205 SW Barnes Road in unincorporated Washington County (West Haven-Sylvan area, immediately north of Beaverton), it is a 523-bed acute care teaching hospital and Providence Health & Services’ largest Oregon hospital. Founded by the Sisters of Providence in 1875, it relocated to its current Washington County campus in 1971.

Beaverton is a major hub on TriMet’s MAX Light Rail Blue Line, with seven stations within city limits: Elmonica/SW 170th Ave, Merlo Road/SW 158th Ave, Beaverton Creek, Millikan Way, Beaverton Central, Beaverton Transit Center, and Sunset Transit Center.
